I'm not exactly sure why I did this, but I figured I'd give blogging a shot. It's not like I have anything profound or interesting to say, but just in case an observance shared may help or encourage someone, then I guess I'll consider blogging worthwhile.
Pax Vobiscum was going to be the name of my blog page, but I chose the less original Jarrell 1964 instead. Why the change? Because it looks like 1,963 Jarrells preceded me? No. My name and birth year work in the URL and someone else had already claimed Pax Vobiscum. (Dang.)
What is Pax Vobiscum anyway? It's latin for "peace (be) with you" and I decided to adopt the phrase the first time I ever stumbled upon it. Not only does it look weird, but it's also lots of fun to say - even if people look at you strangely. Back in my early days of emailing, I used that as a closing in an attempt to be creative and thoughtful at the same time. However, it usually confused people and I dropped it after a year. (Note to self: buy dictionaries for friends and family...) Still liking its meaning, I felt that I would use it to title the blog space since I'd prefer to use this blogging opportunity to bring more peace than strife. Well, you know the story... someone else has one named Pax Vobiscum somewhere on our planet and I chose the current one instead. But, I couldn't be stopped in naming my first blog with it! At least, I don't think I can...
With the anxiety of the "first blog" behind me, I will now set forth and conquer my little corner of the world - my desk. My desk is a mess. Maybe I'll be inspired and blog again soon. (Nah, my desk is really a mess!) It may be a while, folks.
Oh, just to warn overly sensitive people who might accidentally stumble upon this page and can't get away: I have a slight crack in my armor and my sarcasm might leak out into the blog once in a while. Don't be alarmed. Just shake your head condescendingly and walk on by. Just remember to come back sometime.
In the meantime, have a great day and... pax vobiscum.
